Quality and experience are the common denominators of SKTOL members. This encompasses an uncompromising attitude towards doing our job well, including good customer service and sound business practices. All activities are characterised by a professional approach.
Clear visions are appreciated: the manager of a candidate company is required to have at least five years' experience in the field, two of which in running a business. Quite a few of our members are established pioneers, but the age of the business as such is not a critical issue.
Quality means quality throughout the line, as well as consistency. Members must only use qualified professionals for their commissions — subcontractors included.
As for volume, SKTOL members come in all sizes, from small experts in a given language pair or special field to large providers of multilingual communication services. Solo entrepreneurs, however, may find joining our partner organisation, the Finnish Association of Translators and Interpreters (SKTL), a more natural choice.
Networking is crucial in our line of business, and that is what we can offer. For clients, established and potential alike, membership is a sign of reliability. Business partners and subcontractors also know they are dealing with professionals. Generally agreed Terms and Conditions and other rules of play make things easier in changing circumstances.
SKTOL provides its members with up-to-date information on the international developments of our field, as well as training. In tricky situations we can proffer advice and conciliation.
When a trustworthy business partner abroad is called for, our membership in the EUATC (European Union of Associations of Translation Companies) facilitates direct contacts with other members of national associations all around Europe.
Our annual fee is 0.11% of the latest turnover plus EUR 100, max. EUR 1,100.
